Marie O’Neill, MSW, RCC
Marie has enjoyed working in the Field of Employee Assistance since 1995. She has experience in both internal and external EAP programs for companies such as Canadian Airlines International, Wilson Banwell and Associates, and was the EAP coordinator for Telus in British Columbia.
Prior to Employee Assistance, Marie worked in a large downtown hospital setting as a clinical social worker, and for the Attorney General as a Family Justice Counsellor. These positions have fine tuned Marie's ability to realize the significance of exploring with the client their relationship with themselves and then helping the client explore and create healthy relationships in their family, in their extended family, in their work environment, and in their community.
Marie also has extensive training from the Justice Institute in Conflict Resolution and Mediation and worked as a coach in the training program. The title of her Masters Degree Major Paper was, "Toward Common Ground: Mediation, The Courts, Feminism and Parent Education". It was this work that inspired her to develop the first Parenting After Separation program for the Ministry of the Attorney General which has now been implemented in fifty communities throughout the province. She has also successfully conducted many workshops for organizations on topics such as Stress Management, Helping the Troubled Employee, Managing Change in Turbulent Times, Conflict Resolution in the Workplace, Depression and Violence in the workplace.
Marie is solution-focused and draws from many therapeutic models depending on the clients needs most notably System’s therapy and Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT). Marie is a life long learner and continues to attend professional development training every year.
